Ghost Sub Learn is a Windows desktop app for local AI subtitle generation and real-time translation overlays. This policy explains how the app handles data during normal use.
Ghost Sub Learn does not upload original video files to our servers.
Local processing
Core subtitle generation and translation are processed on the user's PC. In File Mode, saved video files are processed locally to generate subtitles. In Live Mode, subtitle files, text files, or pasted script text are loaded locally so the app can display a translated overlay.
Information that may be stored or processed
Depending on how the app is used, Ghost Sub Learn may store or process the following information on the user's device:
- App settings, preferences, and configuration data.
- Local logs used to troubleshoot app behavior.
- Subtitle, script, or video-derived data needed for local subtitle generation or translation.
- Microsoft Store app entitlement status as provided by Windows or Microsoft Store services.
Diagnostic information
If an error occurs, diagnostic information may be sent to Sentry for error reporting. Diagnostic data is used to identify crashes, improve reliability, and provide support. It may include technical details such as app version, operating system version, error messages, stack traces, and limited runtime context.
External communication
Ghost Sub Learn may communicate with external services for limited operational purposes:
- AI model downloads from model hosting services such as Hugging Face.
- Error reporting through Sentry when diagnostic reporting is enabled or required for reliability.
- Microsoft Store purchase, installation, update, and app entitlement services.
The first AI model download may require an internet connection and additional disk space. Purchases, refunds, billing, and app entitlements are handled by Microsoft Store.
How information is used
Information handled by Ghost Sub Learn is used to operate app features, save user preferences, generate or translate subtitles locally, troubleshoot issues, diagnose crashes, check Microsoft Store app entitlement status when needed, and respond to support requests.
Retention
Local settings, local logs, generated subtitle data, downloaded AI models, and model cache files may remain on the user's device until the user deletes them, removes app data, or uninstalls the app. Diagnostic reports handled by Sentry may be retained as needed for reliability, support, and legal compliance. Microsoft Store purchase, refund, billing, and entitlement records are handled by Microsoft Store.
Security
Ghost Sub Learn is designed to process core subtitle generation and translation locally on the user's PC. External transmission is limited to the purposes described in this policy. We use reasonable safeguards for diagnostic information handled by the app, but no software or network transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Third-party sharing
We do not sell personal data. Information may be shared only with service providers needed to operate the app, including Sentry for error reporting, model hosting services such as Hugging Face for AI model downloads, and Microsoft Store services for purchase, installation, update, refund, billing, and app entitlement handling.
User rights and control
Users control which local files are opened in Ghost Sub Learn. Users may manage app settings in the app, delete local output files, remove local logs or app data where supported by Windows, or uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data. Microsoft Store account, purchase, refund, billing, and entitlement controls are handled by Microsoft Store. Video files
Original video files are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers. Users are responsible for choosing which local files to open in the app and for managing those files on their own device.
